How overhead and sectional doors work
An overhead door travels on tracks and pivots on hinges between panels, so a small misalignment shows up as jerky, noisy or uneven movement.
Because the door is built from sections, a single damaged panel can often be replaced instead of the whole door. Worn rollers, dry hinges and a spring that is losing tension are the usual reasons an overhead door starts to jerk or drag.
Gaps and drafts almost always mean worn weather stripping, a bowed bottom section, or a track that is out of level. We realign the hardware and reseal the door so it runs smoothly and closes tight against the weather.
