Why your garage door is so loud
Most garage door noise is not the motor. It is worn rollers, dry hinges and loose hardware grinding as the door moves.
Cheap steel rollers wear down and start to bind over time, which causes the grinding, rattling and sticking you hear. Swapping them for quiet nylon rollers makes a big difference and they last far longer with less maintenance.
A roller that has jumped out of the track means the door is out of alignment and should not be forced. A full tune-up, fresh lubrication, tightened hardware and adjusted rollers, takes care of nearly all everyday noise.
